Biography

Tiera Lynn Trask was born on January 28, 1995, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, to her mother, Antonia Trask, and her late father, Keddrick Smith. Her early years were spent in the Uptown area until she was around seven years old when the family relocated to the East.

Tragedy struck in 2003 when Tiera lost her father, Keddrick Smith, to gun violence. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina forced her family to relocate once again, this time to Woodville, Mississippi. Despite the challenges of adapting to new cultural environments and life adjustments, Tiera persevered and excelled academically, setting the foundation for a life dedicated to breaking generational curses as a minority.

Tiera graduated with honors from Wilkinson County High School in May 2013. Her academic journey continued as she pursued higher education, earning her Associate degree and professional certification from Baton Rouge General School of Radiology in 2016 with an impressive GPA of 3.459.

Immediately after graduation, Tiera secured a position as a Cath lab tech at Ochsner Main campus, specializing in pediatric cases. In 2018, she furthered her education, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Radiotherapy from NSULA. Alongside her academic achievements, Tiera also made significant strides in her personal life, purchasing her first home.

While striving for excellence, Tiera applied to Yale's PA program in 2019. Though she was not accepted, the experience led her to discover that her true passions lay elsewhere. She continued to grow professionally, focusing on MRI training and eventually becoming a travel MRI tech at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital between 2021 and 2022. During her time in California, she rented out her home to fellow travelers, demonstrating resourcefulness and financial acumen.

By the end of 2022, Tiera transitioned to a new role as a Customer Success Manager at an AI company. In 2023, she achieved another milestone by purchasing her second home. Finally, in 2024, Tiera took a bold entrepreneurial step, launching her own lab business, Nexus Solutions and Fingerprinting.

As a minority woman breaking generational curses, Tiera’s journey is a testament to resilience, adaptability, and unwavering determination. She has turned obstacles into opportunities and created a legacy of excellence and empowerment for future generations.
